Crew Team Photo Session on Wednesday, February 8th at 2:30 pm: Spring Season Crew Athletes only are to meet outside the theater doors at 2:30. They will receive their team t-shirt and participate in the team photo. (Erg Sprint participants will have already received their shirts – remember to bring them to the Team Photo Session!). Directly following the photo session, Conditioning will take place for everyone as scheduled.**We also need a few parent volunteers who can help Scarlett Swan hand out t-shirts. If you are available, please meet Scarlett at the school at 2:15. Thank you!

ON-THE-WATER PRACTICE, Saturday, February 11th, 10-12:30, Bull Run Marina: The coaches encourage all rowers to come down and work out. Rowers must bring water, wear appropriate clothing and work out shoes. To participate in this event, all rowers must have completed the registration process. All novice rowers must also have passed the swim test.
Registration: If you plan on participating in crew this spring season, please register NOW! Deadline to register is Monday, February 13th.

Letter Writing Campaign/Trainer Lecture/Safety Video, Thursday, February 16th: All athletes need to bring with them at least ten names and addresses to participate in the Letter Writing Campaign. This is an important fundraiser for the team. The athletes will then listen to the mandatory talk from the Westfield Athletic trainers and view the USRowing safety video. REGISTER FOR SPRING SEASON TODAY

 

You must register online to be on the team - follow this link and register today! Westfield Crew - 2012 Registration

Spring season starts February 20th. You need to register NOW!

Registration will not be considered complete unless the online portion has been filled out, in addition to turning in the forms and paying the fee. The deadline for online registration is Monday, February 13th, 2012.

FCPS regulations require that five forms be completed on paper. Once completed, please put these forms in an envelope marked “Crew Registration” and return them to the Crew Box in the Activities Office at WHS or mailed to Westfield Crew Boosters Club, P.O. Box 231104, Centreville, VA 20120.You will be asked to print out forms one, two, and three when you register online. All five forms are available, in hard copy, in the Activities Office. The five paper forms you must complete and turn in are:

1- Field Trip Driver’s License and Vehicle Insurance Information – one form must be completed for EACH DRIVER who will be driving anyone other than their own family member(s).

2- Parent Authorization for Field Trip

3- FCPS Participation Policy ***Forms 1 - 3 may be printed from the registration website, but take care to return and complete registration after printing them. Registration is not complete until you reach a page which says “Congratulations” and generates both a confirmation number and an email.***

4- Emergency Care Information (EC) – You will find a filled-in printable copy of your child’s emergency care form if you sign into your Blackboard account. Please make any necessary corrections, sign, date, and return the form as instructed above. Blank forms are available on the school website, in the Activities Office or http://www.westfieldathletics.org/library/files/westfieldathletics/files/EmergCare_Card.pdf. We must have a NEW EC for spring season.

5- Physical – Each athlete must have a physical (completed after MAY 1, 2011) on file in the Activities Office. You must use the March 2011 VHSL (Virginia High School League) Athletic Physical form which is available on the FCPS, WHS athletics website, in the Activities Office or http://www.vhsl.org/forms.

***PLEASE NOTE THAT NO ONE MAY PARTICIPATE IN ON-THE-WATER PRACTICE UNLESS BOTH A CURRENT VHSL PHYSICAL AND A NEW EMERGENCY CARE FORM ARE SUBMITTED. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS.***

DUES: Dues this year are $594, discounted to $550 if paid in full by February 10, 2012. The dues may be paid in three installments if desired. Payment coupons are available below. Uniforms are an additional expense.

Westfield Crew was founded in the fall of 2004.
The team has participated in the Virginia State finals every year since its inception, and qualified boats for Nationals continuously since 2007. The 2011 season provided newfound success with the advancement of the 1st Men's Varsity Eight to the Petite Finals at Nationals. Our coaching staff is dedicated to helping committed athletes achieve their best. Come join our program for an experience that can change your life.
