posted Feb 20, 2016, 4:30 PM by WCBC Webmaster   [ updated Mar 19, 2016, 12:48 PM ]
Practices will begin on the water at Bull Run Marina on Monday, February 22, 2016. Practices are Monday - Friday from 3:45-6:00, carpools should plan to pick up at the marina between 6 and 6:15 pm. Saturday practices are 9:00-11:00 am. During the early part of the season, or any time bad weather is in the forecast, please pay attention to your emails and facebook or in-school announcements regarding cancellations or change of location.

Before anyone can go on the water they must have all their registration documentation, concussion education, and US Rowing waiver completed and swim test for new rowers.

If you are still in need of a carpool please contact Joanna Mauro at It takes about 30 minutes to get to the Marina from Westfield. Picking up at 6:00, there is typically more traffic so allow more time.

Attached are very important instructions regarding how to dress in cold weather. Coaches will not allow inappropriately dressed athletes on the water. Layers are key along with hats. These are also available at  There is no drinking water on site at the marina be sure to bring water with you to practice.

ATTENDANCE IS KEY TO SUCCESS; We will once again be setting up a master calendar for the coaches which will include all rowers pre-determined absences. Please send your name and any days that you know you will be missing practice (i.e., after school band practices, orchestra, tutoring, vacations, college visits, etc. or any other appointments that you know of in advance)

If you are ill or unable to attend a practice, you must notify the coaches before that day's practice begins. To report an absence to practice to a coach you must use the following email: whscrew@westfieldcrew.orgThis is the ONLY email that the coaches will see daily before practice. This email is for absences ONLY.  Report any absence as soon as possible. If you know in advance, let your coach know. It is critical that coaches know who to expect at practice. Empty seats in a boat, may require that boat to stay on land. DO NOT USE THE INFO@WESTFIELDCREW.ORG EMAIL TO REPORT ABSENCES. MESSAGES TO THAT ADDRESS MAY NOT BE SEEN PRIOR TO PRACTICE.
